“most of the time most of our brains are constantly searching am I safe, do I belong. I teach people how to put these fears to rest” ~ Anakha Coman
“A lot of time, people think the spiritual path is up and out, and that is one direction, I have been doing down and in and more relational. That is where all the complexity is, if I am just up and out, I can bypass a lot of my neuroses and challenges in my relationships” ~ Anakha Coman

SOL Ep 18 Calvin Chen
Wednesday Feb 07, 2018
Wednesday Feb 07, 2018
Calvin Chen has a degree in Bioinformatics and worked at a Genomics institute, and NASA. In the middle of a successful career decided to become a Coach and worked with Tony Robbins before starting his own practice. Today we get to hear how this 1st generation immigrant goes along the path in his own spiritual life.
He was born to Chinese immigrants from a war-torn Vietnam, in Los Angeles in 1983. His childhood was all about survival, opportunities, and the pressure for excellence. Some would call it tiger parenting, but for him growing up, that was just life. From every school subject, to Tae Kwon Do, to (even) rapping... he got good at being good at things! Except happiness. That mystery eluded him until his late twenties.
Calvin is a coach now, but in my previous life, He was a math and science guy, he got a degree in Bioinformatics from UC San Diego, and worked a Genomics Institute. He even worked at NASA for a bit. And then, he got the bright idea to become an entrepreneur instead. He went from that profession to eventually, life and business coaching, working for the Anthony Robbins Company. He started his own coaching practice 4 years ago.
As a coach, he helps his clients to get more out of themselves, others, and life. Practically speaking, that has meant breakthroughs in revenue, first round knockouts in the UFC, high performing teams and better leadership, re-invigorated relationships, and a deeper sense of personal freedom/well-being.
Ultimately, he wants to contribute to a world where more people are successful, happy, and having a positive impact ... because that's what flourishing is all about!

EPISODE QUOTABLES:
I was taught from a very young age that I got to choose my religion and I started actively working on that something around 12. I was at the town library reading books to help me decide my own religion. ~ Indigo Ocean Dutton
I had a really close personal relationship with Jesus Christ as a child. Long before I was thinking about any of these thoughts, when I was 8 I remember sitting in my room, while everyone else was outside playing or studying and I was just sit there by myself having conversations with Jesus Christ for hours at a time. ~ Indigo Ocean Dutton
I am pretty sure I knew my astrological sun sign before I knew my address. ~ Indigo Ocean Dutton
There was always a Mystical openness and Mystical curiosity that was indulged throughout my family. ~ Indigo Ocean Dutton
I was deeply deeply deeply spiritual my entire life. I don’t have any memories that weren’t very spiritually aware. It was normal to me that you would have a relationship with someone like Jesus Christ. ~ Indigo Ocean Dutton

Suzanne Giesemann~ Evidential Medium and Author
Wednesday Jan 10, 2018
Wednesday Jan 10, 2018
Suzanne Giesemann is an evidential medium who provides stunning evidence of life after death. A spiritual teacher and the author of twelve books, she is a former U.S. Navy Commander who served as a commanding officer, special assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations, and as aide to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
I have personally taken her Serving Spirit Class where she teaches people to be able to create their own connection to spirit. I also just got her new meditations where she combines Hemi-Sync to help create the connection.
Suzanne’s gift of communication with those on the other side has been recognized as highly credible by noted afterlife researchers. Whether in her books, her classes and workshops, or her one-on-one sessions, she brings messages of hope, healing, and love that go straight to the heart.

EPISODE QUOTABLES:
"I didn't realize that this kind of emptiness that I felt inside a lot was a spiritual emptiness I know that now in hindsight now that I've discovered this light that we all have inside I was the kind of person that you know I stayed in a marriage longer than I should have because I was afraid of being alone and now I know we're never alone and that we'd have guides and helpers and our loved ones on the other side or as near as our thoughts and I just didn't know that in the past well so I don't know." ~ Suzanne Giesemann
"I was out of control with food, I was that trying to fill that emptiness inside me and now I don't deal with that at all. I think that was actually part of my path of learning to trust my intuition and listening to my body and listening to that voice inside. Do I really need to eat this now? That was the start but I didn't see that as a spiritual path." ~Suzanne Giesemann
"I know that we're here to learn certain lessons for our soul’s growth." ~Suzanne Giesemann
"I know that I've turned that tragedy (her step daughters death) into something really healing for other people, because it was healing for me to discover that there's a whole lot more inside of us, and it is really just an urging to discover it for ourselves, what's really out there." ~Suzanne Giesemann
